Gap Goals - Our GAP goals for the 2008-09 school year are as follows:
How can we strengthen our leaders:
-Develop SU phone list
-we need to connect to leaders who can't make SU meetings
-create a check list for new leaders
-alternate meeting days/locations
How can we help girls get to know girls who are different:
-identify sister SU
-encourage troops to interact with other SU troops of different age levels
-SU campout
-SU sponsor a "free" event to another SU that may not otherwise be able to have
an opportunity
-create secret sister that can be revealed at a year end campout or SU activity
How can we help girls learn about the needs of their community and take action
through community service:
-SU community project
-Use of Enquirer or Community press/local papers - photos
-Develop a SU PR position
How can we ensure clear and timely communication to leaders, volunteers, parents
and community, using a variety of methods:
-Consider volunteers or parents who do not have/own a computer (i.e. cookie
mom/dad)
-council still needs to continue to provide non-computer resource
-Troop PR parent - someone who is willing to be the phone parent - this person
will get the info from the leader then call each parent in the troop an provide
them with the information
What can be done to recruit new adults from a variety of resources to provide
the GS program using different pathways:
-Identify local (non-parent) volunteers to provide services
-SU book with activity/badge ideas and resources
-Each leader approach 1 person or business to see if they would offer a program
for the GS
-look into 8 week programs
-get older girls (Cadets/Seniors) involved with younger troops
-September kick off/May wrap-up
If anyone has any additional ideas they would like to have added, please contact Janel.

Have a great summer!
